"ZHOSHY ULYSY – ULYK ULYS" This year marks the 800th anniversary of the formation of the Jochi Ulus. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out the need to study the heritage of the Jochi Ulus. Jochi was the eldest son of Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire. He played an important role during the reign of his father and took an active part in the campaigns of conquest. Jochi Khan headed vast territories, and his descendants continued to rule the ulus for many years. The descendants of Jochi ruled the territory of Kazakhstan for six centuries (from 1224 to the 1860s). Thus, in 1224, the rule of Jochi and his descendants began on the territory of Kazakhstan, which ended quite recently by historical standards.At the same time, many Jochids later played an important role in our history. These are Alikhan Bukeikhanov, Shokan Valikhanov, Ermukhan Bekmakhanov, Sanjar Asfendiyarov, etc.
